What’s New Aboard Spendthrift Charters for 2025
Many years back a survey was taken among people who use guides and charter boats for fishing. The results amazed us and helped us to prepare our business model around the results. First on the survey results was staying safe, followed by friendly guides, followed by nice boats, then equipment… catching fish was like number 7 on the list of wants for a premier charter/guide service. So, lets take a look at what Spendthrift Charters has completed to assure your experience is the best it can be.
New Reels
We replaced the reels on all of our leadcore, copper and dipsey divers with top-of-the-line Shimano high speed retrieve reels. Because these lines are out so far, the retrieve ratio will assist in landing the fish. This will be especially helpful for landing those large king salmon and world class trout.
New Electronics
Radar and chart plotting are essential tools for safety while navigating in low light or on foggy days. Hence, we installed a brand new high tech Garmin radar, chart plotter and sonar. The new sonar will assist with marking fish while under power along with safe travels on the big water provided by the radar and graph.
New Cushions and Upholstery
Unlike recreational vessels, our boats take a beating running trips every day and sometimes twice a day. Therefore, we need to routinely replace certain items that wear on the boat. A few years back it was new deck coverings. 2025 brings us all new cushions and upholstery on all the boats. Our hope is you find them as comfortable as they are good looking.
Bottom Paint
Along with s fresh buff and wax of the fiberglass hull, we stripped and repainted the bottoms of the boats. Fresh bottom paint helps to prevent growth of moss, mussels, and other microorganisms that would normally attach to the hull of a boat that remains in the water all season. Without these growths on the hull we are able to top out at a tad faster speed, but ultimately the new bottom paint is for the protection of the vessel.
B.O.A.T.
Folks always like that the acronym for boat is Break Out Another Thousand… In the world of charter boats it is multiple thousands of dollars a year spent on maintenance, upgrades, equipment, slip fees and insurance. Hey, that’s what we do at Spendthrift Charters so your fishing trip will be safe and successful. The boats go into the water in two weeks and we’ll be fishing shortly after.
We already have reports of good fishing and believe 2025 is going to be an epic season. Call Captain Nick and book your charter now.
